Oozing Drops, 2013

listen to the sound

Oozing Drops is an installation of sculptures, sound and cut vinyl shapes exploring the physical and psychological experiences of pregnancy and motherhood. The piece investigates the ideas of blood being squeezed from a wound or milk from a breast. The sculptures drip, ooze and explode, relating to the idea of growth and multiplication. Some sculptures function as speakers, which project mother and baby voices. The baby’s voice sucks, cries, coos and grunts. The mother’s voice hums and whispers.

Oozing Drops was part of the exhibition, Play, at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art in Grand Rapids, MI.
